Intern - Java Software Engineer for BC/DR Project
Project Overview:
Customers expect that all VMware products work seamlessly together and offer great usability and reliability. This project will bridge the gap between two leading VMware products – SRM and vCO and enable customers to fully automate VM lifecycle. The project will be a vCO plug-in that communicates with SRM over its public API and orchestrates disaster protection of workloads.
Goals:
• Research APIs of vCenter Site Recovery Manager, vCenter Orchestrator and vCloud Director
• Design, implement, and construct a proof-of-concept vCenter Orchestrator plug-in that interfaces with Site Recovery Manager
• Enable basic SRM functionalities within vCO
• Present the knowledge of the research and lessons learned in front of a large audience
Team & Role:
• You will be working on your own on this project, mentored by experienced technical staff and/or R&D manager
• Your role will be to fully research, design, implement, test and demonstrate the results described in the Goals section
Requirements:
• Good knowledge of Java and OOP
• Good knowledge of data structures and algorithms, design patterns and unit testing
• Good analytical and problem solving skills and ability to work independently
• Knowledge of JavaScript
• Willing to innovate, learn and share knowledge
• Some exposure to source control and bug tracking systems
• Good command of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of web service architecture (WSDL/ REST) a plus
